LaSalle R. Vaughn II is a retired United States Air Force officer, author, international speaker, and Pastor of New Life Christian Center, which is one of the largest multicultural churches in San Antonio, TX. He is a well respected lecturer and Bible scholar who believes in empowering people through education, and community revitalization.
Dr. Vaughn founded New Life Christian Academy in 1987, a premier, fully accredited private Christian academy (K-12). In 1997 he instituted Jarel’s Toy Chest, San Antonio’s largest city wide free toy giveaway event. He also founded the San Antonio 9-11 Memorial in 2003, the first memorial constructed in the United States. In 2003 Pastor Vaughn was also appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to serve on the Board of Directors of the inaugural OneStar Foundation. In 2004, Dr. Vaughn was then asked to serve as part of the Bexar County Blue Ribbon Child Abuse Prevention Task force. This experience inspired him to build New Beginnings Children’s Home which opened in 2009.
Dr. Vaughn has been an advocate for the people, land and Nation of Israel for decades, and has led numerous tours to the Holy Land. In 2006, he was appointed by Pastor John Hagee to serve as the City of San Antonio Director for Christians United for Israel (CUFI). Dr. Vaughn also served along side the late, Dr. Myles Munroe, on the Advisory Board of the International Third World Leaders Association’s (ITWLA), and served with Malcolm Hedding on the Advisory Board of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ).
In 2006, Pastor Vaughn and the New Life Christian Center family officially broke ground on construction of Canaan Land Ranch. Canaan Land Ranch is a premier restorative destination for resort, recreational and rehabilitative facilities and programs in the region. In 2009, Dr. Vaughn was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to serve as a commissioner for The Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission, pursuant to Senate Bill 482 passed of the 81st Legislature. The commission will work with organizations, agencies, museums, survivors and liberators to help preserve information and experiences of the Holocaust and other genocide events.
Dr. Vaughn has degrees in Business Administration and Personnel Management as well as several degrees in Theology, including a Masters of Divinity and a Doctorate in Ministry. He is also a certified marriage and family therapist.
Dr. Vaughn celebrates 48 years of marriage with his wife and best friend Portia Brooks Vaughn. Together they have three married, adult children and five grandchildren (Solomon, Zachary, Zoe, Sydney, and LaSalle VI). One, if not the greatest, accomplishments for him is to have his children and their spouses serving along side him and his wife in the ministry.
