New Life Yeshiva School
Our Hebrew Roots
Time after time, Yeshua (Jesus) taught His disciples about the mysteries of His kingdom. As His disciples today, Yeshua desires that we enter into His kingdom with a fervor for learning more about His Word.
Yeshiva helps students unlock parables, principles and knowledge from a Hebrew perspective that has not been understood or simply been dismissed as Old Testament theology. As progressive Christians, we are beginning to ask ourselves why we would want to learn the Bible from a Hebrew perspective. Have you ever asked yourself the question, “When Jesus was quoting scripture, what texts was He quoting from, or what books did Jesus study when He read the Holy Scriptures”? We hope to answer these questions and many others by thoroughly exploring the scriptures and gleaning from one another throughout our Yeshiva courses.
There are five classes in our Yeshiva. The first class, Ancient Foundation, teaches Yeshiva students’ two very important facts. First and foremost, 85% of the New Testament primarily references the Old Testament throughout its context. Second, Torah means “God’s teaching and instruction”. It does not refer to “law” or nomos, which is the “law of sin and death”, but refers to the wisdom of God and His guidance for our daily lives. Many Christians have been taught that the Old Testament is God’s law, and that we’ve been redeemed from the law. We have been redeemed from the “law of sin and death” [nomos] by Christ’s work on the cross. We have not, however, been redeemed from the Old Testament. With these important facts in mind, there may be many of God’s teachings and instruction that Christians simply ignore and consider obsolete. Could it be that the reason we are not living God’s abundant life is due to our un-acceptance that Torah— “God’s teaching and instruction” is applicable to our lives today? We can look at the Torah and say it’s “law” and has no benefits for us today, or we can circumcise our hearts and return to the ancient paths of Jesus that God intended for us to follow.
The study of Torah establishes Jesus firmly within the context of firstcentury Judaism, and shows us how understanding Jesus’ Hebraic roots is a crucial part of interpreting the New Testament. It is also a key component of helping us understand the nature of our Christian faith. Insights from Jewish literature, archeology, and tradition help modern believers place Jesus within His original context, thus illuminating our personal relationship with God.
Are you ready for a deeper relationship with the Lord? Perhaps you need tools to assist you as you disciple other believers in their faith walk. New Life Yeshiva can help you strengthen your walk in God’s kingdom and help you move forward with the high calling that God has established for you.
The Classroom
The Torah classes use a step-by-step approach to teach you how to overcome real-life problems such as fear, confusion, depression, anger, rage, and despair. You will learn how to heal and bring order to your relationships with children, family, spouse. You will also use the Holy Scriptures to bring meaning and order to your life. The Torah program has five levels centered on your walk with the Lord. This series of classes is a graduated learning program requiring students to complete the courses in order for maximum positive results. For example, Torah: The Ancient Foundation, is a prerequisite for Torah 101. Please review the list of classes and what is taught in each course.

“Yeshiva” is the Hebrew name for an institute of religious higher education. The origins to the New Life Yeshiva School stem from the Days of Elijah Conference held during the month of August 2003. The keynote speaker for the conference was Rabbi Ralph Messer, the current President and Founder of Simchat Torah Beit Midrash (STBM). Rabbi Messer has successfully founded Yeshiva schools throughout the U.S. For more than 25 years Rabbi Messer has taught all denominations, colors and creeds about the Hebraic Roots of Christianity. Rabbi Messer’s message entitled “A Look at the Torah” inspired Dr. LaSalle R. Vaughn (founder and pastor of New Life Christian Center) to start a Yeshiva school. The inaugural class started in September 2003 with 136 students.
