It is a sad fact that children in our community are too often in the news because they have become victims of abuse, neglect, abandonment, or other terrible crimes. In 2007, in Bexar county and surrounding counties there were 7,817 confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect. Eighteen of those cases resulted in death. People of good conscience want to know what will to these children and what they can do to help.

 

The New Beginnings Children’s Home: A child placing agency & residential childcare facility with limited private placement available. The Home will be a place of healing for abused children 1and their families through the love of Jesus. The Staff will work closely with other support agencies to restore families and protect abused children. Families in crisis case management will be provided through the New Beginnings Program “A New View of You,” a faith-based life skills mentoring course.

 

Canaan Land provides corporations, community groups, churches and other organizations a place to conduct extended retreat conferences and recreational events.  The Ranch has a community development partnership with the International Community Development Corporation (ICDC).  Featured initiatives of this partnership are: New Beginnings Program, a Families in Crisis outreach, Rites of Passage, a young men’s mentoring initiative and the Development Institute, a life skills educational institution.  The ongoing activities and services provided by the partnership add value to its community through outreach initiative efforts.  Canaan Land Ranch is an initiative of New Life Christian Center.
